Following extensive engagement and communication with the community, we have now formally released the Resource Management Act/Local Government Act-style Plan for public feedback.
We're accepting feedback from Monday 12 May to Friday 24 August at 5pm.
Background
The Resource Management Act-style Plan has a direct impact on how we manage and maintain the area where you live.
It's the main document that sets the framework for managing land use and development within our city. It contains objectives, policies and rules to address resource management issues such as the effects of land use and subdivision, noise and traffic.
Your feedback so far
Feedback provided by the community over the last 12 months has been incorporated into the draft Plan. This part of the consultation process confirms that the community is happy with the Plan before it becomes operative.

filling out the survey below
by sending your comments via email or by providing a scanned hardcopy survey
filling out a hardcopy survey and delivering it to any of the Council service centres, or the main Council office
by attending one of our "friend of submitters" drop-in sessions.

Submitters who have indicated they want to speak to their submission will have the chance to do this at a hearing.
Council decision

Once the council makes a decision on the submissions and finalises the content of the proposed plan, plan change or variation, it will publicly notify its decision in the newspaper and on its website. You will also be informed directly if you’ve been involved in the process so far.
Appeals

Anyone who is unhappy with the final decision can make an appeal at mediation or hearings at the Environmental or High Courts. If no appeals are received, the proposed plan will go ahead.
Operative plan
